Characters[]

Summary[]

Boots' new toy firetruck is atop Snowy Mountain, and he and Dora need to get it before Swiper does! Tico to the rescue! Dora's fastest friend will help her, Boots, and preschoolers race over land, lake, sky, and snow to get to the firetruck! ¡Rápido, Tico!

Plot[]

Today, Boots was excited for a special package to arrive from Val the Octopus: a brand new super-duper fire truck toy. Val the Octopus comes and looks around in the mail truck. Boots gets his package, but then he noticed that the box was empty. Dora saw there was a giant hole on the bottom of the box. She thought the fire truck must have fallen out of the hole. Val was sorry for Boots and thought that maybe it fell out of her truck somewhere. Boots didn't know where the fire truck was. Neither did Dora, who was waiting with him. Luckily, Map knew exactly where Boots' toy fire truck was. It was on top of Snowy Mountain. But before they can get there, Dora and Boots had to go across Crocodile Lake and through a blue tunnel. Boots was in shock after what Map told him and Dora that his toy firetruck was just lying there on top of Snowy Mountain. They will soon recover it as long as they can't let of those villains who will try to win the fire truck toy and heard everything about snowy mountain. But then, they hear their archenemy. It was a sneaky fox named Swiper! He heard the news and is planning to win it and swipe it! "Snowy Mountain, he-heh! I heard everything!", he said. So Dora & Boots are going to have to race with Swiper to Snowy Mountain before he wins the lost super-duper toy fire truck!

All of a sudden, Tico comes along and gives Dora and Boots a ride in his car. They had to tell Tico "Vamos" to get going. As Tico was driving along, a traffic light was up ahead. The traffic turns red and Tico had to stop his car. Dora and Boots told Tico "¡Para!" for stop. Tico stops his car but then Swiper comes along riding on a scooter. Swiper swipes Tico's steering wheel and throws it far away. Dora and Boots remembered what Tico's steering wheel looked like. It was round like a circle, yellow, and had 3 spokes. Once they found it, the traffic light turns green and Tico got going once again. While driving, they see Swiper who is way ahead of them. Dora, Boots, and the viewer chant "¡Vamos!" and in no time, Tico drives in front of Swiper. As Tico was driving along, the path stops at Crocodile Lake. Dora and Boots told Tico "Para" for stop. Tico stops his car just in time. They make it to Crocodile Lake but Dora and Boots needed a different form of transportation to get them across. Tico sees a tractor, a bicycle, and a speedboat. The viewer believes the speedboat will help them get across. Tico gets it ready, then drives the speedboat dodging the crocodiles to Dora and Boots. Tico already turned his vest into a lifejacket, but they need lifejackets of their own in order for them to be safe. Dora checks her Backpack for two lifejackets. Tico pilots the speedboat across Crocodile Lake. But they saw three trails of crocodiles in their way. When it was clear for them to go, they tell Tico "¡Vamos!".

Dora and Boots make it to the other side. Suddenly, Swiper attempted to go across Crocodile Lake by using a pole vault and a trampoline, but both attempts failed and he got all dirty and muddy. Swiper figured out how to get across Crocodile Lake using a jetski. Dora and Boots had to get going if they're going to beat Swiper to Snowy Mountain. But next they have to go through the blue tunnel. Once Dora and Boots got to the blue tunnel, they heard something. Swiper was on a pump cart. He goes ahead of them. Tico returns driving a small train. Dora and Boots jumped into the small train, put their seatbelts and got going with Tico. As they enter the blue tunnel, Swiper takes away some rails off the track. Dora and Boots had to put the rails back on the track for the train. Dora noticed that there was a pattern. It went long-short-long-short. The viewer helps Dora & Boots continue the pattern by figuring out what came next in the pattern. Once the missing rails were put back into place, the viewer tells Tico "Vamos". And Tico did so. Dora, Boots, and Tico were going super fast on their way out of the blue tunnel. Dora and Boots thanked Tico for the ride. Dora and Boots were getting so close to retrieving the toy fire truck on Snowy Mountain. They saw Swiper in a helicopter.

All of a sudden, Dora and Boots see Tico on a bicycle-plane. Dora and Boots put on their seat belts and pedaled the bicycle-plane. After peddling the bicycle-plane, Boots saw his toy fire truck and he and Dora jump out and they get it back. Dora, Boots, and Tico still had to watch out for Swiper. They got ready and said "Swiper, no swiping!" 3 times. Swiper turns to leave, but then he slips and starts to roll down the snowy hill, causes Swiper to turn into a snowball on the way down, then he turns into a snowman. Swiper breaks out of the snow, shivering as he runs away and gives up. After defeating Swiper, Boots thanked Tico in Spanish. Tico said "You're welcome" in English. Boots was so glad that he got his toy fire truck and that Tico helped him and Dora out for the whole trip.

Trivia[]

  • Val the Octopus is voiced by Eileen Galindo in this episode, instead of the usual Elaine Del Valle.
  • Tico helps Dora and Boots on their adventure to get back Boots' red toy fire truck.
    • This is Tico's first major role for an episode.
  • The episode title means "Fast, Tico!" or "Quick, Tico!" in Spanish.
  • This is the third time where Tico speaks English. Instead of "De nada", he says "You're welcome, Boots" in English, after Boots says "Thank you" to him in Spanish.
  • This is the first time we see Swiper as a snowman, and the only time we see him as a snowball.
    • It is possible that it suggests this episode takes place before A Present For Santa, it is possible that Swiper used the snow as the same disguise in the episode.
  • Benny and Isa do not appear in this episode.
  • This is the 40th episode of the show.
  • The close-up of Dora running after asking the viewer to say "para" would later be shown on the trailer for the Dora's Pirate Adventure VHS and DVD.
  • There is a Fisher-Price InteracTV DVD with the same title as the episode, where at certain points of the episode, the viewer(s) are instructed to respond to interactive questions asked by Dora by pressing a touch point on an activity card that was previously inserted into a slot on a controller. The answers are shown onscreen in front of the same shapes after the episode pauses. The viewer(s) press(es) the shape that corresponds with the shape onscreen with the correct answer.
  • This episode aired before Super Map! aired on television.
  • This alongside A Present for Santa were the first two episodes to be released on home media before airing on television on the Christmas VHS.
  • Dora lies in the grass while Boots plays with his firetruck when she asks the viewers what their favorite part was and when she and Boots tell their favorite parts.
  • In real life, despite Tico's small train having a steering wheel, trains have levers to operate them and do not have steering wheels since they run on tracks. However, in some European countries, there is a steering wheel-shaped device that is used as a throttle for the trains; turning the wheel right accelerates the train and turning the wheel left decelerates it.
  • Dora and Boots only sing the Travel Song once instead of twice because Swiper is on to them wanting to swipe Boots' toy fire truck so they never had the time to sing it twice. However, even if they did the second time, he would most likely cut them off in the middle of them singing it.
  • This is the third episode (second in production order) where Swiper technically plays a major role due to him trying to swipe Boots' toy firetruck located on Snowy Mountain. The first was Grandma's House.
    • Coincidentally, this also the first episode where he swipes something more than once.
  • When Tico says "Swiper, no Swiping!" the audio is taken from Lost Squeaky.
  • This is not only the second instance where Boots stands behind the picture pop-up sequence with Dora (first being Pinto, the Pony Express), but the first instance where he only does it for the first two times. Save the Puppies! will be the second instance where he stands behind the three squares all three times.
  • Although this is a Season 2 episode, it uses Season 1's art style, particularly in Dora's face.
  • Out of Doctor Dora, Pinto, the Pony Express, The Big Piñata, The Happy Old Troll, and Click!, Dora and Boots have always stopped Swiper from swiping from them and he was always too late, but in this episode, he finally got to. However, Dora and Boots stop him as well from swiping Boots' toy fire truck, so this is technically the sixth episode in a row they stopped him.
  • When Boots could not find his firetruck in the forest after the package was empty, he was almost about to cry as he is seen in tears. But when Dora gives him a hug, he cheers up right away and does not cry at all.
  • The close-up of Dora running after asking the viewer to say "para" was used for the DVD trailer of Dora's Pirate Adventure.
  • In this episode, Tico gets a boat to ride in, but in Dora's First Trip, Tico can transform his car into a boat.
  • This is the first of four episodes in which the life jackets had to be gotten out of Backpack instead of already being in the boat. It will happen again in Super Map!, Whose Birthday is It?, and Dora and Diego to the Rescue!.
  • Map's zoom wipe is recycled from To The Treehouse and The Magic Stick.
  • When the lifejackets are put on Dora and Boots, they have their arms outstretched and the jackets are open as they slip on before fastening themselves, when usually, the life jackets are slipped over their heads without being undoed.
  • When the "I'm the Map" plays, a drum set solo is heard before playing the last three notes before Map starts singing. This is the second instance (both airing and production order) where the drum set can be heard at the beginning of the song, first being The Big Storm.
  • The scene and background where Tico went "¿Para?" is recycled from Lost Squeaky.

This is what it looks like.

  • This is the second episode where Dora and Boots sing the Travel Song in Tico's car, first being The Missing Piece.
    • And also, it's the second episode to feature the crocodile lake and the tunnel together with the final destination after the aforementioned episode. Except that the tunnel was red and the destination was the end of the rainbow that had the wand from the last time, while this episode has the blue tunnel and the destination is snowy mountain that has the fire truck.
    • Both the red and blue tunnels have the same sound effect.
  • In production order:
    • This is the final episode where Tico wears a regular orange life jacket, as starting from Super Map!, he can pull a cord on his vest to turn it into a life jacket.
    • This is the first episode where Dora and Boots clap their hands three times when asking "Where are we going?" during the Travel Song.
  • Throughout the episode, Dora and Boots cheer, "Go, Tico, go! Vamos, Tico, vamos!". Said cheer will later be used for Al Rescate and Una Adventura for Go, Diego, Go!.
  • The Latin Spanish language has different lines:
    • When Boots feels shocked of snowy mountain, he said: "Snowy mountain?! I can't believe my fire truck is on top of snowy mountain! My fire truck! My fire truck is totally alone on snowy mountain!".
    • And when Swiper gossips of Dora's voice, he said: "So snowy mountain, eh? Haha! I heard everything!".
  • In a 2015 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, rapper Ice T dubbed a clip from this episode.

Goofs/Errors[]

  • In some scenes of the episode, Dora has her Season 1 look like in Super Spies.
  • When Val takes out the package with the fire truck, a quick glimpse at the bottom of the box is shown and there is no hole underneath. The hole appears once Dora notices it.
    • When Boots stuck his head in the box, he would've stuck his head out the hole.
  • When Dora, Boots, and Tico reach the top of Snowy Mountain, they do not have any winter clothes on, despite the fact that there's snow on top. It is possible that it was warm on top but the snow didn't melt completely. However, if they (Dora and Boots) did wear their winter clothes on Snowy Mountain, it would most likely be their same pink and yellow snowsuits from A Present for Santa and A Letter for Swiper.
  • iTunes and Amazon Prime list this episode as "Rapido Tico". Both the upside down and right side up exclamation marks, the comma, and the accent mark over the "a" are all left out.
  • In the Fisher-Price InteracTV version of this episode, Dora’s line, “Do you see anything we can use to ride on the tracks through the tunnel?” is cut, most likely due to time constraints.
  • After Swiper swipes the train tracks, he does not say, "You'll never find [them/[the/those] tracks] now!" after saying "You're too late!".
  • It is unknown why the red light up ahead was standing there anyway, as we didn't see any traffic along the way, but some and only a very few people can presumably think this could be one of Swiper's sneaky tricks to keep Dora, Boots, and Tico back, similar to what happened in the episode of Bob the Builder "Travis and Scoop's Race Day", where Spud uses said traffic light to slow down Scoop while trying to get Travis to win.

Running Gags[]

  • The word "Vamos"
  • Boots cheering "Go, Tico, go!" and Dora cheering "¡Vamos, Tico, vamos!"
    • This kind of cheer would later be incorporated in Go, Diego, Go! during the Al Rescate and Una Adventura song segments (specifically "Go, [Diego/rescuers], go!" and "¡Vamos, [Diego/Alicia/Dora], vamos!").
