Characters[]

Summary[]

Oh no! The babies have climbed into their baby carriage, and now they're rolling downhill toward the Gooey Geyser! Help Dora, Mami, Papi, Boots, Abuela, and Diego as they try to catch those babies!

Plot[]

Dora and her family got together at Dora's house. Dora tells the story on the day she and her family had to catch the babies. It all started when Dora woke up and said "good morning" in Spanish and English. Perrito the Puppy was sleeping on her bed. Soon after, she hears her baby brother and baby sister. Dora couldn't see them but she can hear them. The babies were somehow not in their cribs. Instead, they were outside reaching for their rattles. The babies reach for their rattles in the stroller. The babies get into the stroller and the babies get buckled up. The stroller started moving on its own. It rolls onto the path and out the gate. Dora was in shock. She tells her parents that the babies fell in the stroller and that the stroller is rolling away. The parents were shocked. So, Dora and her parents went outside (in their pajamas) to catch the babies. Papi sees the babies go and notices that they was going faster than they should. The problem was that they didn't know where the stroller was going. Dora checks Map for assistance. Map tells Dora that the stroller was heading towards the gooey geyser. But to stop the stroller, they have to go through the farm and through the flowery garden to get the gooey geyser to catch the babies. After memorizing the places, Map tells the viewer to tell Dora that first she and her parents had to find the farm.

The tree was obstructing their vision. Suddenly, Boots appears and moves the leaves out of the way to reveal the farm. Boots comes down from the tree and lands into Dora's arms. Dora tells Boots that the babies fell in the stroller and that the stroller was rolling away. Boots was in shock about the news and came to come and help Dora and her parents catch those babies. Dora, Boots, and Dora's parents got going. The path splits into 3 different directions: one path leads to the barn, one path leads to a silo and one path leads to some bales of hay. Dora and Boots take the path to the barn while Papi takes the path to the silo and Mami takes the path to the bales of hay. Suddenly, Dora and Boots run into a horse. He was hungry for his breakfast. He wanted 3 apples. They feed him 3 apples and continued through. Papi had a problem too. But he had to deal with a pig who was hungry too. He (the pig) wants 4 watermelons. They count out 4 watermelons and Papi continued through. Immediately after, Mami had to feed the sheep 5 carrots. They count out 5 carrots and Mami got through. Dora, Boots, Mami, and Papi got back together as they make it through the farm. Dora checks Map to figure out where to go next. Map places a check-mark by the farm. The path traces to a flowery garden. The viewer tells Dora that next they have to go through the flowery garden.

Dora, Boots, Mami and Papi continued to try and catch the babies. The stroller goes over the bridge. But then, pieces of the bridge broke apart. The babies got across just in time. Suddenly, they saw someone swinging on the vine. It was not a bird, it was not a plane, it was Abuela! Dora, Boots, Mami and Papi grabbed the vine and swung across the bridge. At the flowery garden, the path splits into 4 different directions. The group decided to split up. As the viewer checks on Dora and Boots, they had to wake up the clapping flowers. As the viewer checks on Abuela, she had to make a silly face with silly flowers. Next the viewer had to help Papi do a silly dance with the silly dancing flowers. Finally, the viewer helps Mami go quietly through a field of flowers with bees sleeping on top of them. The group gets back together one more after making it through the flowery garden. Dora checks Map once more to figure out where to go next. Map places a check-mark on the Farm and Flowery Garden. The path traces to the gooey geyser. Map tells the viewer to tell Dora that next they have to go to the gooey geyser.

As the group continued down the winding path, they saw capybaras obstructing the path. Diego comes down with his parasail transformed by his orange backpack (later known as Rescue Pack, since he's not anthropomorphic yet). Diego imitates the sound of the capybara so the capybaras can move out of the way. Dora, Boots, Diego, Abuela, Mami, and Papi walk past the capybaras. The babies weren't at the gooey geyser just yet. Suddenly, the path splits into 5 different directions. They couldn't tell which way they went. So Papi suggested that they split up. But when Dora and Boots enter the safe path, her family cry out for help! Abuela had to swing over the prickers and thorns. Mami had to climb over a rocky wall. Papi had to jump over 2 mud puddles and Diego had to crawl underneath some low branches. After that, the group gets together and is now caught up with the babies. Dora gets ahead of the others. She wiggles her fingertips as she tried to reach for the stroller. Inch by inch, Dora finally stops stroller, saving the babies at last. The rest of her family plus Boots arrive and are glad that the babies are saved. Unfortunately, the joy doesn't last long when to everyone's shock and dismay, the ground began to shake, causing everyone else to shake. The gooey geyser was getting ready to go ker-sploosh. Everyone ran and took cover. But surprisingly, upon going ker-sploosh, the gooey geyser didn't spurt out goo, but instead spurted out pink and blue bubbles, which the babies love. Dora asked the babies if they liked their ride. The babies really enjoyed it.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of the few times where Mami, Papi, and Abuela have a large role in an episode.
  • Dora, her family, and her best friend Boots are seen wearing their pajamas in the sunlight instead of their normal clothes.
    • Dora, Boots, and Mami were previously seen wearing their pajamas in the sunlight instead of their normal clothes in the episode "Louder!". Map even wears his same yellow night cap from the aforementioned episode as well.
    • This is the final appearance of Dora's two-piece pink pajamas before she switches to a nightgown in "Dora's Moonlight Adventure".
  • Perrito is seen in this episode sleeping on Dora's bed, which proves that this takes place (and is produced) after "Dora's Got a Puppy".
  • Benny, Tico, Isa, Alicia, Daisy, Baby Jaguar and Swiper don't appear in this episode or in their pajamas from a story.
    • However, Swiper is listed in the credits, because he is voiced by Marc Weiner, just like Map.
  • This is the 81st episode of the show (82nd if counting the Noggin premiere of "To the South Pole").
  • Although this episode premiered in 2005 on Nickelodeon and on VHS and DVD and 2010 on Nick Jr., it was made in 2003 according to the end credits.
  • This is the first episode Dora's Mami, Papi, and Abuela travel with Dora and Boots.
  • In production order, this is the final time Gabriel Alvarez voices Diego. Beginning in the episode "Dora and Diego to the Rescue!", as well as in Go, Diego, Go!, he will be voiced by Jake T. Austin.
  • In production order, this is the last episode where Mami is voiced by Socorro Santiago. Her original voice actress, Eileen Galindo, will return to the role beginning with Season 5 onwards.
  • This is the only episode in which Diego's parents have a speaking role in the series. However, it is hard to hear them since they talk in unison with everyone else.
  • Diego used his orange backpack as a parasail. When he finishes going down, his orange backpack (later known as his "Rescue Pack" in "Dora and Diego to the Rescue!") turns back to normal.
  • When Dora asks the viewer what their favorite part is (in their opinion), she doesn't ask "what was your favorite part of the trip", she instead asks "what was your favorite part of the story" (because this episode was told as a story) and she says "Ooh, that was a fun part!" after the viewer's response instead of the usual, "I like that too".
  • This is the third episode in which the Gooey Geyser is the final destination, but with a new look once again, first being in "Lost Squeaky", and second being in "Rescue, Rescue, Rescue!".
    • This time however, the Gooey Geyser does not spurt out goo, but instead spurts out pink and blue bubbles.
    • Funny enough, on the day after this episode premiered (April 5, 2005), the Nick Jr. block aired both this and Lost Squeaky (at 9:00am and 11:30am ET, respectively).
  • This is the ninth episode where Backpack was not checked.
  • There was no star-catching in the episode, so a Character Find of Señor Tucán plays in place of an Explorer Star minigame.
    • Like the series of emergencies in "Rescue, Rescue, Rescue!", but unlike the such emergency in "Dora Saves the Game", Dora, her family, and Boots all have no time catching stars in this episode, due to the state of emergency of the babies being aboard a runaway stroller heading towards the Gooey Geyser.
      • Coincidentally, as mentioned earlier, both this episode and the first aforementioned episode feature the Gooey Geyser as the destination.
      • However, while running, this episode is rather different from the first aforementioned episode because of the following reasons:
        • Map sings his song at normal speed instead of very fast speed.
        • Dora and Boots are more braver than they were in the aforementioned episode; even when they're panicking, they cannot take a deep breath to relax.
        • Dora asks the viewers where to go next as usual.
          • However, due to the babies' state of emergency, she is running instead of standing.
        • Dora and Boots (along with Mami and Papi) still sing the Travel Song as usual.
          • This is the first episode where Mami and Papi sing the Travel Song.
          • During the Travel Song, Dora and Boots don't say "come on let's get to it" nor "I know that we can do it", Mami and Papi say those lines instead.
            • Dora and Boots' utterances of "Where are we going?" have been re-recorded.
          • Also, after saying "Where are we going?", they don't say the last place (Gooey Geyser) as the answer, they instead say "To catch the babies".
            • In addition, they say "Where are we going?" in English 3 times and Dora says it in Spanish once.
  • This is the last episode to find Señor Tucán.
  • Map does not stand on the top left corner of the picture map in this episode, he instead rather stands on the bottom left corner.
    • He also does not zoom wipe at all in this episode.
  • This is the second episode where Guillermo and Isabella were featured as regular babies throughout their appearance, first being "Big Sister Dora".
    • Not only that, this is also their last appearance in Season 4 (both airing and production), as well as being unnamed. They will appear again in the Season 5 episode "Dora's Jack-in-the-Box", which will reveal their names.
  • This is the only episode to feature the Flowery Garden without Isa.
  • This episode premiered on Nick Jr. the same day as "Welcome Home, Lion Cub!".

Goofs/Errors[]

  • When Dora begins the story and she wakes up, her bed is on the right side of her room instead of the left.
  • It is unknown how Guillermo and Isabella got out of their cribs and got outside.
  • It is unknown how the stroller moves on its own. In real life, the stroller is supposed to move if one is pushing the stroller (although here it does not apply due to cartoon logic).
  • After the second Map segment, when Dora is asking where to go next, she is smiling, but when she finishes talking, she suddenly frowns. She smiles again when she says her next line.
    • Perhaps she's still worried about the babies' emergency.
  • For some odd reason, despite how highly shocked Dora, her family, and Boots all were in this episode about the babies' severe state of emergency in heading towards the Gooey Geyser via their runaway stroller, Map remains completely calm and is still smiling as usual during all the map segments. Normally, for any severe state of emergency like this one, Map should've been just as shocked like the others about the babies' emergency as well as frowning instead of smiling for most of his segments (like he did later in "Dora and Diego to the Rescue!", which (coincidentally) was produced right after this episode), as if it were one of the worst incidents to happen to him. He did frown (albeit, briefly) in the two previous episodes the Gooey Geyser appeared in: "Lost Squeaky" and "Rescue, Rescue, Rescue!".
    • Taking episodes in which Map wasn't asked for into consideration, a somewhat similar error previously occurred in Lost Map, when Map remained completely calm and continued to smile even upon being kidnapped by the Big Silly Bird.
    • Map may have smiled as usual in "Dora Saves the Game" (yet, another emergency episode), but there were no major incidents for him to point out during his map segment, and everyone else (including Dora, Daisy, Diego, the rest of their family, and Boots) remained positive and more confident despite the emergency.
  • In the closed captions, some of the a's are capitalized where they normally shouldn't be.
    • Examples: "DorA", "towArd", "awAy", "capybarAs", "wAll", "wAs".
  • When Map jumps out of Backpack's pocket the third time, his nightcap is missing.
