El Mago (English for “The Magician”) is a mean magician who casted a spell on King Popo and Queen Maria turning them into mountains. He appeared in the episodes "Te Amo" and "Dora Saves Fairytale Land" on Dora the Explorer.
Story[]
In "Te Amo" he didn't like seeing King Popo and Queen Maria together. He tried making them far apart on the planet Earth. But El Mago didn't give up. He wanted to make sure that they were apart forever. So, he casted a spell on King Popo and Queen Maria turning them into mountains. But when Dora and Boots broke the spell, King Popo and Queen Maria were back together and the falling rocks landed and crushed his magic wand resulting him to lose his magic.
He'd returned in "Dora Saves Fairytale Land" where he turns Dragon Flowers into little dragons that did, in fact, snap at Dora and Boots to impede their progress to the Sparkling Lake.
Physical Appearance[]
El Mago wears a purple triangular pyramid hat with a stripe being a pattern of orange and teal triangles, a navy blue cloak, a magenta cape, and dark purple shoes. He has tan skin, a black mustache and beard, and white eyes with black pupils.

Trivia[]
- He's the second antagonist to appear in the series after Swiper, if one doesn't count the Grumpy Old Troll.
- In Dora's Big Birthday Adventure, there's a picture of him in the Magic Storybook. But he never showed up at Dora's birthday party.
- It's unknown who voiced him in Te Amo, since he's not listed in the credits. However, in Dora Saves Fairytale Land as well as Dora and Friends, he was voiced by Colombian musician and singer-songwriter Juanes.
- However, some sources say that Keith Szarabajka voiced El Mago in his first appearance.
- In "Dora Saves Fairytale Land", El Mago somehow regained his powers. He could've found another wand in that case.
- El Mago never appeared in either Go, Diego, Go! or Dora and Friends: Into the City!, otherwise he would be a fugitive residing in Playa Verde (possibly being named "most wanted" by the city's local police) as he would have been one of the main antagonists of the latter-said series.
